Syracuse crews rescue injured pair from Highway 2 ravine
Dunbar and Talmage residents injured when truck plunges off of Highway 2

SYRACUSE - Syracuse Fire and Rescue extricated two occupants of a pickup truck that plunged into a Highway 2 ravine Monday and hit an earth embankment and drainage culvert.
65-year-old Charles Richards of Dunbar and 60-year-old Katherine Dehring of Talmage sustained serious injuries. Rescuers freed them from the truck and carried them up a steep, snow-covered slope to ambulances.
A sheriff’s office accident report says Richards attempted a lane change due to a slower-moving tractor, but lost control. His pickup slid across the highway median, across both eastbound lanes and down the slope.
The accident report says seatbelts were not in use.
