Overnight snow rewrites record books
NEBRASKA CITY - An additional two inches of snow in Nebraska City Wednesday keeps the snowfall this week in the record books.
A measurement of 16 inches over a 3-day period is ranked second behind a three-day period in February of 1965.
A January snow storm in 1971 dumped 13.4 inches of snow. Presumably, the 14 inches this week is the heaviest on record for a January storm.
For the year, the highest snowfall was measured at 64 inches in 1948, 55 inches in 1983, 45 inches in 1997 and 43 inches in 2019.
