Darleen J. Teten

Darleen J. Teten, age 87 of Elkhorn, NE passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Fremont Methodist Medical Center in Fremont, NE.
Darleen was born June 7, 1933 on the family farm south of Johnson, NE. Her parents were Otto and Alma (Stutheit) Boeck. She graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1950 and then went on to Peru State College where she received her teaching degree. She began her teaching career in a one room school house west of Auburn and then taught school in Nebraska City.
On October 24, 1954, Darleen was united in marriage to Richard L. Teten at the Hickory Grove Lutheran Church in Auburn, NE and to this union five children were born: Mark, Vicki, Sherri, Brett and Tanith. They lived in Auburn for a while and then moved to Omaha and later Elkhorn. Darleen was active in her community, where she was a member of the Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church, the Women’s Club, the Welcome Wagon, the PTA. She also did substitute teaching in Elkhorn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Mark Teten and wife Donna of Yutan, NE, Vicki Sleder of Omaha, NE, Sherri Arnett and husband Jon of Arlington, NE, Brett Teten and wife Amy of Kirksville, MO and Tanith Wilson and husband Scott of Bennington, NE; 15 grandchildren: Sarah Gleeson (Tim), Carlie Malesa (Josh), Ehren Teten (Nikki), Frank Sleder, Jr, Angelique Sleder, Steven Sleder, Jake Arnett, Ryan Arnett, Sam Arnett, Cade Arnett, Nolan Teten, Avery Teten, Ben Wilson, Taylor Wilson and Zac Wilson; nine great-grandchildren: Emily, Elijah, Kyler and Kash Malesa and Matthew, Wyatt, Cooper, Emma and Dylan Gleeson; other family and friends.
Darleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Teten on Nov. 10, 2016 and siblings: LaVerne Boeck and Shirley Clobes.
Funeral Services will be held Monday (1/18) at 2 p.m. at Gude Mortuary - Nebr. City with burial in St. James Lutheran "Long Branch" Cemetery, rural Johnson, NE.
Visitation with the family from 1 p.m. to service time at the mortuary.
