Camping World CEO Visits Sidney
SIDNEY, NE - Leadership from the largest RV retailer in the U.S. was in the Panhandle earlier this week.
City officials have confirmed to KSID representatives from Camping World, including CEO Marcus Lemonis, were in Sidney on Wednesday.
Sidney Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard said she and City Manager David Scott met with the leadership team during their trip.
They stress that there are currently no plans in motion for Camping World to do anything in the city of Sidney. It was just an initial meeting between the two parties and for Camping World officials to see what the town has to offer.
Norgard says she doesn't want people to get ahead of themselves with this news.
"I've seen so many projects I thought would come to fruition that end up falling by the wayside that I would hate for everybody to be getting really super excited about this and then nothing end up coming to fruition," she said.
City Manager David Scott issued the following statement on the situation.
“I can confirm that Marcus Lemonis of Camping World was in Sidney on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 and met with David Scott, the City Manager and Melissa Norgard, the City’s Economic Development Officer. The initial meeting went well, and he has expressed interest in Sidney. This is still in the early stages and there are no details to report at this time.”
Norgard echoed these comments.
"We just want to be really super careful, especially from our side of things," Norgard said. "Things are very very initial. This project is very much in its infancy. Yes they were here, but what the future holds is still very much to be determined."
Camping World was founded in 1966 and has over 130 locations nationwide.
