SIDNEY – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports that a missing Iowa man has been found about 300 miles from his home.

The sheriff’s office received a report at 1:07 a.m. on Friday that an 87-year-old man was reported missing out of Evansdale, Iowa.

A sheriff’s office press release says deputies were informed that the man’s phone was tracked to a rural area northeast of Sidney.

 Deputies along with an aerial drone, the Fremont County K9 Unit, and LifeNet Medical Helicopter were called to attempt to locate the man.

Deputy’s located his abandoned vehicle, near the intersection of Foote Street and Maple Street in Sidney
at 3:56 a.m.   The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a fence, becoming disabled.

Deputies searched the area and located the male approximately one block from the crash scene.

The unidentified man was transported to Grape Community Hospital by Sidney Rescue with minor injuries.
