Elbert D. Reed, age 86 of Omaha, NE, formerly of Thurman, IA, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE following a brief illness.  Elbert was born November 30, 1933 in Thurman, IA to Curtis Perry Reed and Mary Catherine (Phillips) Reed.  He worked and lived in Omaha, NE. Elbert served our country in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957.

Elbert is preceded in death by parents, Curt and Mary Reed; sister, Veda Reed-Hume-Hilding; brother, Gale Reed; and niece, Coralee Reed.  He is survived by brother, Clark P. Reed (late LaDean); nephews, Larry (Louise) Hume, Darrell Hume, Carey (Denise) Reed, Scott (Krista) Reed, Corey (Juli) Reed; nieces; Susie Berry, Cheryl (Kevin) McGill, Cindy (Gene) Huey, and Christina Reed; many, many great nephews and great nieces.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Thurman, IA United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Phillips officiating.  Visitations will be with the family greeting friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church.  Memorials will go to the Thurman United Methodist Church.  Interment will be in the Thurman, IA Cemetery with Military Honors by the Rommel-Conklin VFW Post #7064 of Tabor, IA.
