SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — Sidney High School’s speech team piled up event titles and depth across the board Saturday, winning the Western Conference Meet at Scottsbluff High School.

Sidney claimed championships in oral interpretation of drama (OID), serious prose, program of oral interpretation (POI), duet acting and informative speaking, while adding multiple runner-up and top-five finishes in nearly every event.

In OID, Sidney took first with Sweeney Todd and added a fourth-place finish with Frankenstein. Kennedy Hobson earned a conference title in POI, where Laurel Dadgostar placed second and Tristen Tanquary finished fifth. Bryn Jones won informative speaking, and Ian Davis added a fourth-place finish in the same event.

Sidney also went 1-2 in serious prose with Raven Dinorog taking first and Kyah Hicks placing second. Dinorog teamed with Dagen Lee to win duet acting, and Hobson and Hicks added a sixth-place duet finish. In persuasive speaking, Sidney placed second through fourth as Jones took second, Aastha Chaudhari finished third and Mady Kennedy placed fourth.

Additional placers included Lee taking second and Noel Onate third in humorous, Dadgostar placing second and Laurel Dadgostar and Zaid Guerrero adding a fifth-place finish in poetry, and Onate earning two medals with a fourth-place finish in entertainment. Stephen Hunt placed second and Zoey Gorman finished fifth in entertainment.

Ian Davis also placed fifth in extemporaneous speaking.
