Alcohol, drugs tops offenses for juvenile diversion
Nemaha County is lead county for community based program
FALLS CITY - A Nebraska Crime Commission report for the Four-County Diversion Program sets out a community plan through 2029 of identifying barriers to accessing resources for juveniles and promoting pro-social and restorative activities for kids and families.
A Richardson County report says 45 percent of participants were in grades nine through 12 and 64 percent were boys.
The top offenses were alcohol and drug related at nearly 30 percent. Traffic violations were over 20 percent and shoplifting or theft was over 15 percent. Truancy, assault and tobacco are also listed as offenses.
Nemaha County is the lead for community based juvenile services aid program funds.
