Gerald M. Carlstedt, age 74 of Papillion, NE passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion, NE.

Gerald Melvin Carlstedt (lovingly know as Jerry) was born on December 23, 1949 in Omaha, NE; the oldest child of Melvin Elmer and Rita Marie (Huber) Carlstedt.  He grew up and attended school in Omaha and later graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School (Roncalli Catholic High School) with the Class of 1968.  He then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History.

He began his teaching career in 1972 and taught for a short time.  He later accepted a job at TARGET and served as their retail manager from 1973 to 1993.  In 1996, he accepted the retail manager job at No Frills Supermarket and continued in this capacity until 2016 when he retired in May of 2016. 

He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion and volunteered many years for the Missionary Society of St. Columban.   Gerald also attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City for many years.

He is survived by his mother Rita Carlstedt of Auburn, NE; brother Kenneth Carlstedt and wife Paula of Nebr. City, NE’ nephew Danny Carlstedt and wife Stefanie of Omaha, NE; niece Patty Mattson and husband Luke of Hickman, NE; six great nieces and nephews:  Aubrey, Kailynn, Rylan, Jaxon, Blake and Christian; other family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Melvin Carlstedt on June 29, 2024.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Tom Schultes celebrating the Mass.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City. 

The family will greet friends at the church from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m on Thursday and a rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m.; prior to the Mass.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Lourdes Central Catholic Schools.
