SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at city hall.

The agenda includes a possible ordinance change for out-building zoning in residential districts.

Resident Chad Loecker requests zoning changes to accommodate larger out buildings for recreational equipment,  such as boats and recreational vehicles.

Loecker presented his case to the Syracuse Planning Commission during its August and September meetings. Planning Commission members agreed to table the matter in August to gather more information as to what peer communities  are doing to accommodate this issue.  Loecker has an RV he would like to have inside a building.

Chad and Kem Loecker are building a new home  at 1392 White Pine, the new development  addition in northeastern Syracuse.

In August of 2023 the city council adopted ordinance 1145 to keep out buildings minimum size so they do not tower over homes and block views. If the new ordinance is adopted, it would increase the side walls and overall building size  from 14' high x 40' wide  to 16 feet high x 50 feet wide.

Syracuse has an ordinance against parking recreational vehicles on the street in front of your home.

Justin Hampton of 912 Mohawk St. is also asking for a conditional use permit for an out building on his property.

A DTR application for Tim and Carly Antes at 350 5th St.  is also on the agenda.

Joel Hying of Hydro Optimization and Automation Solutions will be discussing cyber protection.

In new business, there are applications for use of the volleyball courts at the complex for a tournament during Germanfest as well as authorizing carry-in and consumption of alcohol  on city property during the event.

Street closures and beer garden requests for Germanfest have been submitted for council approval.

A Pickleball tournament is scheduled for Oct. 20  during Germanfest, beginning at 11 a.m.  at Williams Park.
