SIDNEY, IA - The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports arrests through April 27 including charges of assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle and intent to distribute methamphetamine.

A sheriff’s office press release says 61-year-old Anthony Lee Moyer of Sidney is suspected of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. He was at a Fremont County business on April 8 where he allegedly made sexual comments to a victim, pulled on her clothing, struck her buttocks and kissed her without consent.

Deputies arrested 63-year-old Timothy Gardner of Hamburg on April 22 after responding to a report of a stolen vehicle. A press release says the vehicle was found abandoned in the city park.

The Fremont County K9 Unit assisted with a Highway 2 traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of 51-year-old Matthew Barnes on a methamphetamine charge.

A press release says 10 grams of meth was found in a vehicle and Barnes had an active arrest warrant out of Douglas County.

He was held on a $100,000 bond on a Fremont County charge of intent to distribute.

The sheriff’s office also reports charges of trespassing and child endangerment in Riverton, where people were attempting to live in a house they did not own and was scheduled for demolition. Deputies say a small child had access to the unsanitary house.
