Charges mount against Nebraska City man
NEBRASKA CITY - The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested Trevor Bennett, 18, of Nebraska City on Saturday for suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident.
A detention center report says Bennett was also booked on charges of obstructing a police officer and driving under suspension.
The sheriff's office and Nebraska City police are investigating a hit-and-run accident on south Third Street.
Bennett is also charged in Otoe County with willful reckless driving on Aug. 14. Police say Bennett was speeding, nearly hitting vehicles and cyclists.
He is scheduled for a court hearing on Jan. 8 on a charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm on March 18. An arrest affidavit says a video was sent to police showing Bennett driving on Fourth Corso and firing a handgun toward an apartment building.
A hearing is also set Jan. 8 on a tampering with a witness charge.
He is scheduled for a court hearing Jan. 10 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon on May 14.
