PERU – Mayor Dave Pease of Peru declared a stage 2 water warning Tuesday afternoon.
The city’s notice says the goal of the stage 2 warning is to reduce peak demands for water by 20 percent and to reduce overall weekly consumption by 10 percent.
The city and Peru State College will curtail water usage including fountains, lawn watering, vehicle washing and recreational activities involving water.
The public is required to water lawns on an odd/even system and outdoor water usage is restricted for 12 hours per day.
Charges will be imposed for excess water usage.
