Sheriff suspects attempted child abduction

EAGLE – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident described as an attempted child abduction in Eagle.
A sheriff’s office press release says a nine-year-old girl reported that a man in a brown, rusted “smaller” vehicle asked if she would come with him to look for his dog.
The sheriff’s office is asking for anyone that might have had surveillance cameras to check their footage between 5 and 6:45 pm. on Tuesday.
The girl was walking on a park trail west of the Eagle public pool. As the child approached a gravel cul-de-sac parking area off of Applewood Drive, she noticed the suspect vehicle, which the sheriff’s office says may have been brown, gold, tan or very dirty.
The girl said the man asked her to go with him and told her he would take her to get a drink before they looked for the dog.
The sheriff says the girl recognized the dangerous situation and ran away.
The suspect is described as an older Caucasian male, at least 40 years old, with a bald head and no visible facial hair.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with images to contact the sheriff’s office immediately.
