AUBURN – The Nemaha County Future Fund still has a limited number of 2023 calendars available from its second annual countywide calendar project.

Advisory committee volunteer Julia Lambert, who is a marketing specialist at BCom Solutions, said the calendar started as a Facebook community called Nemaha County Through the Lens.

Lambert: “Basically people post pictures of Nemaha County -- the landmarks, the people, the wildlife, the sunsets that they witnessed -- literally anything that is happening in Nemaha County. We capture some of the best images and collect them in this calendar project.”

This year’s calendar features the work of 17 photographers. Days are marked with local events, including the new date for the  Johnson Father’s Day Barbecue, citywide garage sales and Brownville Village Theater.

She said the calendar naturally fits into the Future Fund’s mission.

Lambert: “We exist to basically create a positive impact on the causes and the different non-profit organizations that exist here within the county.”

 

Over  the past couple of years, they have been involved with the Johnson Library and Community Center, the Julian Community Center, Meals on Wheels and Auburn Rescue Squad.

Lambert: “We’re also partnering with the Village of Nemaha right now to help them fundraiser for their community center that they are building.”

She said funds raised through calendar sales will help the Future Fund continues its support of local organizations.

Lambert: “That’s really the beauty of our organization. If you have a cause that’s important to you, that is what we’re here to serve. We don’t have one specific project that we’re trying to build here in Auburn or build anywhere else, it’s basically serving the many causes that exist around our county.”
