Sally Schreiner retires as NCECBVI Campus Administrator
For the first time in 24 years the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired (NCECBVI) will have a new Campus Administrator in July.

NEBRASKA CITY - For the first time in 24 years the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired (NCECBVI) will have a new Campus Administrator in July.
Current Campus Administrator Sally Schreiner is entering retirement and current Outreach Director Tanya Armstrong is set to replace her on the first of July. NCECBVI held a retirement party at NCECBVI on May 13 where faculty, family, friends and former students showed up to usher Schreiner into the next chapter of her life.
Schreiner said the impact of so many people showing up to the event brought up emotions and memories from the past.
“Its an emotional roller coaster,” Schreiner said. “We have people from the community, we have people that have flown in from around the country that I’ve worked with for years. And former staff and former students and families. It's been a lot of fun.”
The conversations with coworkers and former students allowed Schreiner to reflect on her career at NCECBVI.
“Oh my gosh it’s been a great ride,” Schreiner said. “[Of] amazing staff, students and families. I’ve been able to travel the state, travel the country and representing the school. And it’s been a great ride and a very rewarding career.”
Armstrong is eager to take over for Schreiner and saying she has done a terrific job leading NCECBVI and the people that showed up to the party is a testament to the work she’s done.
But Armstrong knows it won’t be easy and she has a standard to uphold.
“You know, certainly tough shoes to fill,” Armstrong said on replacing Schreiner. “Sally’s been a great leader and been here a long time and I have been so fortunate to work with her for so many years. And I know so much about the program and services and I just look forward to whatever comes next.”
Schreiner still has a few weeks of work left before she can immerse herself into retirement, but said she is hoping to travel before she decides what to do next.
For now, Schreiner is soaking up the moments she has left at NCECBVI.
“Right now, I’m just enjoying the days here,” Schreiner said. “I still have about a month to go to finish up and pass the torch to Tanya Armstrong and she’s going to do a great job.”
