FALLS CITY – Falls City public schools are receiving an early childhood education grant of $75,000.

Superintendent Tim Heckenlively said the grant is intended to improve equity of access to early childhood education programs.

The school is adopting a new language arts and reading curriculum this fall to replace curriculum in place since 2017.

Heckenlively said the new materials are researched based and include a cross-curriculum approach with science, social studies and history.

The school reports that it will no longer offer the summer meal service.

The school also posted its sixth grade class participating in a Zoom call with New York Times bestselling author Ruta Sepetys.
