Peru State women's bowling finishes sixth at HEART Championships
Over the weekend the Peru State women's team finished in sixth place at the Heart Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by Grand View University. The tournament was Baker style bowling.
(Peru, Neb.)—Over the weekend the Peru State women's team finished in sixth place at the Heart Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by Grand View University. The tournament was Baker style bowling.
On Saturday, the teams competed in 28 Baker style bowling games to determine the seeding for the double elimination tournament that would take place on Sunday. After the 28 games of bowling the 'Cats finished in sixth with 3596 total pins.
The top three after one day of bowling were Baker University with 4756 total pins, in second was the host school Grand View with 4623 pins and coming in third was William Penn knocking down 4620 pins.
On Sunday, Peru State as the six seed faced off against the three seed William Penn. Unfortunately, the 'Cats were swept by the Statesmen three games to zero. The Bobcats had scores of 156, 122 and 171 while the Statesmen had scores of 163, 153 and 190.
In the loser's bracket Peru State faced off against the four seed Clarke Pride. The Pride swept the Bobcats as well effectively ending the 'Cats season. The Bobcats had scores of 144, 165 and 134 while the Pride had scores of 220, 191 and 153.
Baker won the Heart championship over William Penn in a five-set thriller.
Peru State women's bowling team will be back next season. The Bobcats have already signed several top prospects and will work to improve their overall finishes in 2022-23.
