IFRD Festival in Tecumseh
Over the weekend, the International Female Riders Day festival went through Tecumseh, Nebraska.
TECUMSEH- The Tecumseh IFRD Motorcycle Festival took place over the weekend, and for Bill and Carla Montz, this was a chance to not only help a charity who supports survivors of sex trafficking, but also bring people in to show motorcycle history in the Montz motorcycle museum.
Well, we’re planning on having a lot of people here,” Bill Montz said. “It’s been kind of hard to get the museum off the ground. We have over 120 bikes, and a lot of history, a lot of famous bikes. It seems like about every bike has a story.”
The story for this International Female Riders Day includes comedians, a wine garden, and of course, a motorcycle ride. One of the comedians on the docut for the IFRD festival is Susan Udero, or better known as “Miss Bubbles.”
“Miss Bubbles” is the first female biker comedian in the nation, but she says that female riders is something that is growing exponentially.
“We have come in numbers, like tenfold, versus thirty years ago,” Udero said. “I was just talking to organizers and sharing that we (female riders) are growing like a weed, literally.”
Udero also says that although the event is meant to highlight female riders and support survivors of sex trafficking, the comradery between riders is something even more special.
“The biggest part of it also is the organizers making it fun not only for the girls, but also for the men,” Udero said. “It’s such a reward to organize and just get all these people together.”
