Nebraska Bloody Mary State Championship
In the Nebraska City Tourism and Commmerce's seventh annual Bloody Mary state championship, Farmer Brown took home the overall first place.
NEBRASKA CITY- Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce hosted its seventh annual bloody mary state championship last week and the rules made it easy to represent Nebraska.
“We only take bars from Nebraska and we only use Chase vodka, which is distilled here in Nebraska,” Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce member Pam Frana said.
One year ago, the bloody mary state championship was canceled due to COVID-19, but this year, according to Frana, the list of participants was everywhere from down the street in Nebraska City, all the way to Hastings and Lincoln. However, the lingering effects from COVID still remain.
“The crowd is a little but down,” Frana said. “Of course, that’s probably COVID related. They don’t know if they can wear a mask, or if they’re not supposed to wear a mask. It’s probably going to be going on like that for a little while longer.”
The ten bars and bartenders that made the trip to Steinhart Lodge in Nebraska City were judged anonymously by independent judges to decide who will take home the award for best bloody mary.
After all the drinks were judged, the best overall bloody mary was awarded to Farmer Brown.
