Auburn council to consider mask mandate
Auburn doctors asked for four-week mask mandate
AUBURN – The Auburn City Council is scheduled to consider Mayor Dan White’s mask mandate at a 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14.
In November, Auburn doctors at Auburn Family Health Center wrote the Auburn Health Committee saying the community had reached a critical moment in the battle against COVID-19.
The letter says hospitalizations follow a rise in cases after two to three weeks. The letter said they are dealing with rejected hospital transfers and dread the scenario of rationing patients if hospital beds are full.
The doctors asked for a stronger approach, including a four-week mask mandate. The mayor’s proclamation will be in its third week by the time the council meets Monday.
The Southeast District Health Department COVID-19 dashboard lists 373 confirmed cases in Nemaha County and three deaths over the past 30 days.
In other agenda items, Auburn Arts and Events will request keno funds for the Auburn birthday and music. The council will also consider Linda Dickens’ request involving keeping fowl within the city limits.
