NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Fire and Rescue responded to a report of smoke in an apartment building at 6:34 p.m. on Monday.
Michael Frakes said smoke was rolling through his upstairs apartment, so he alerted his daughter, grabbed the cat and got out. He said the smoke density got worse as they went downstairs.
Firefighters did not find a fire at the building owned by Brandon Johnson at 513 Fifth Corso. No one was home in the downstairs apartment.
