Magdalene “Peg” (Rieken) Thomsen was born to Rieke and Tina (Harms) Rieken on October 20, 1927 near Tecumseh, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, Nebraska. Peg attended country school near Johnson through the 8th grade as she continued to work daily on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Harvey Hahn on September 25, 1945 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson. This union was blessed with two sons, Michael and Myron. Peg was a wife and homemaker in the early years of marriage while working at the Johnson School lunch program and then worked side by side with Harvey when they purchased the Phillips 66 gas station in Johnson. They worked tirelessly at Hahn Oil Co. for 15 years and thoroughly enjoyed serving the community and making many friends and customers throughout that time. Peg and Harvey were members of Zion Lutheran Church just outside of Johnson. They enjoyed attending dances, playing cards with friends, bowling and joining the “camping bunch” on many weekends and mini vacations. Harvey passed away suddenly on March 20, 1981 while working for the county roads crew.

Peg met Raymond Thomsen a few years later and they were married on June 15, 1984 at Zion Lutheran. After making their first home in Cortland, they then moved to Beatrice and eventually to Lincoln at Savannah Pines Senior Living. During their years of marriage, they enjoyed attending dances, traveling to Husker football and basketball games both home and away, tending to their large flower gardens, golfing and watching grandchildren in all their activities. After a brief illness, Ray passed away on December 3, 2020. After a few months, Peg moved to Pemberley Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lincoln.  It was there that she passed away February 17, 2026.

Peg is survived by her two sons, Michael (Patrice) of Lincoln and Myron (Sheila) of Nebraska City; two stepdaughters, Lori (Kent) Oelling of Roca and Linda Hodges of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Tena Green of Auburn; and sister-in-law, Irene Rieken of Nebraska City.
