David L. Lierman, 75 of Neb. City

David Lee Lierman, aged 75, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, following a decade-long battle with dementia. He was born on April 3, 1950, in Fremont, Nebraska, the only child of Norris Johann Lierman and Wilma Viola Lierman (Langemeier). David’s father died when David was three; his mother married Art Plugge when David was thirteen. The family were members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont.
David graduated from Fremont High School with the Class of 1968. He attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, pledging Sigma Pi fraternity and earning the nickname “Tuna”. David eventually returned to the Fremont area. As a man who loved working with his hands, David found joy in owning a statuary shop in Valley, Nebraska, and, in his later years, working at Oilgear and Ace Hardware and Garden Center in Fremont.
David married M. Jeannine Marks in September of 1996, gaining an immediate family. David and Jeannine moved to an acreage near Hooper, Nebraska, a few years into their marriage where David spent time horsing around with their dogs, donkeys, and grandchildren. David and Jeannine moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska, in 2023 to be closer to family, but their failing health landed them at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home in Bellevue by the end of 2024. David received excellent care there and passed peacefully.
David is survived by his wife of 29 years, M. Jeannine Lierman, stepsons Erich (Renee) Partsch of Silverdale, Washington, and David (Tammy) Partsch of Nebraska City, grandchildren Bo (Janet) Partsch, Carli Partsch, and Chloe Partsch, all of Washington, and Luke (Caroline) Partsch of Nebraska City, and five great-grandchildren with another on the way. He is fondly remembered by his childhood friends and fraternity brothers as a man with a great laugh and a big heart.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, NE.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (1/22) at God's Acre (St. Paul's Lutheran) Cemetery outside of Arlington, NE (Washington County).
