Rock Port retiree sentenced for intent to distribute

NEBRASKA CITY – Otoe County Attorney Jennifer Panko-Rahe told a district judge Monday that a 66-year-old Rock Port, Mo., man was cooperative with investigators prior to his prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute on Sept. 11.
Court records say a Nebraska City police officer was dispatched after a vehicle went through a yard near Third Corso and 10th Street and struck a mailbox. Edward Bailey was not the driver of the vehicle, but the driver told police a glass pipe in the car belonged to Bailey.
Bailey was nearby in another car, so he was searched. Police say a bag containing 50 grams of methamphetamine was found on his person.
Bailey was sentenced on a joint recommendation from the county attorney’s office and Public Defender Michael Ziskey for three years. He has already served 138 days.
Under truth in sentencing, he would be eligible for parole in a year. Judge Julie Smith said he is eligible for parole two years before his mandatory release date of 36 months.
