IMPERIAL, Neb. — A bizarre incident in southwest Nebraska involving a cow led to one person being injured and an officer shooting the animal.
It happened around 1:35 Friday afternoon in Imperial. The local police department says the cow rammed a man at a Veterinary Services vet clinic and escaped. An ambulance transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the cow made it one street to the west before encountering law enforcement near the Chase County school building. Police say the vet clinic staff told officers the cow was in poor health and dying. A Chase County deputy then shot and killed the cow. Police say it was the most humane and safe option.
There is no word on the severity of the man’s injuries.
