SIDNEY, Neb. — Gering captured the team championship Saturday at the 2025 Sidney High School Wrestling Meet, finishing with 225.5 points to edge Mitchell and Torrington at Sidney High School.

Mitchell placed second with 198.5 points, followed by Torrington with 179. Bridgeport finished fourth with 168.5 points, while host Sidney placed fifth with 141.5. Alliance, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Hemingford and Chase County rounded out the top nine in the 13-team tournament.

Gering wrestlers claimed four individual championships, including titles from Frost Wallace at 120 pounds, Evan Strom at 132, Anthony Morales at 138 and Rece Knight at 175. Che Molina added another title for the Bulldogs at 190 pounds.

Mitchell earned four individual champions of its own, led by Brody Fuss at 113, Drey Gardner at 126, Gavin Cheek at 144 and Wyatt Blomekamp at 285.

Sidney crowned two champions on its home mats. Zech Roggasch won the 165-pound title with a fall in the finals, and Cayson Boltjes earned the championship at 215 pounds with a decision victory. 

Torrington also produced multiple champions, including Ty Albaugh at 150 and Colby Sandusky at 157.

Gering girls win team title at Bridgeport wrestling invite

BRIDGEPORT, Neb. - The Gering girls wrestling team claimed the team championship Saturday at the Bridgeport Girls Wrestling Invite, finishing with 167 points to outdistance a 17-team field at Bridgeport High School.

Scottsbluff placed second with 108 points, followed by Ogallala with 104. Host Bridgeport Girls finished fourth with 92.5 points, while Kimball rounded out the top five with 85.

Gering crowned multiple individual champions, led by Rileigh Dane at 100 pounds, Rylee Luce at 110, Autumn Hahn at 115 and Meredith Zlomke at 130. Dane went undefeated in round-robin action at 100, winning all five matches by fall.

Bridgeport Girls earned a home-mat title from Elizabeth Menke at 120 pounds, while Morgan Amateis added a runner-up finish at 125. Mitchell’s Macie Vallejo captured the championship at 135, and Torrington produced individual winners in Catherine Hendricks at 125 and Jenna Woodard at 140.

Chase County saw strong performances from Hayley Rusher, who won the 155-pound title, and Paige Owens, who finished second at 130. Hemingford’s Sofia Gomez claimed the championship at 170, while Kimball earned titles from Jade O’Rourke at 145 and Noley Brower at 235.

Perkins County Girls’ Haley Dunn won the 190-pound division, and Morrill Girls’ Jazzmyne Hardin captured first place at 105.
