SIDNEY, Neb. - The Sidney Holiday Shootout returns to Sidney High School on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29–30, bringing together boys and girls basketball teams from across Nebraska.

The two-day tournament will feature Sidney, North Platte, Fillmore Central, Morrill and Lincoln Pius X, with games scheduled throughout both days.

Tournament play opens Monday, Dec. 29, with the girls games beginning at 2 p.m. when Sidney faces North Platte. The boys game between Sidney and Fillmore Central follows at 3:30 p.m. The evening session includes a girls matchup between Fillmore Central and Morrill at 5 p.m., followed by North Platte and Lincoln Pius X on the boys side at 6:30 p.m.

Action resumes Tuesday, Dec. 30, with the girls opening the day at 10 a.m. when North Platte meets Morrill. The boys matchup between Fillmore Central and North Platte tips off at 11:30 a.m. Sidney returns to the floor at 1 p.m. in the girls game against Fillmore Central, before closing the tournament at 2:30 p.m. against Lincoln Pius X in the boys finale.

The Sidney girls enter at 4-0 following wins over Chadron, Gering, Chase County and Yuma. North Platte’s girls team comes in at 2-1, while Fillmore Central sits at 2-2 entering the week. Morrill’s girls team is 3-2 and Pius is 3-1 this season.

On the boys side, Sidney enters the tournament unbeaten at 0-4. The Red Raiders will open against Fillmore Central, which comes in at 2-2 on the season, before facing Lincoln Pius X. Lincoln Pius X enters the week at 2-4.

North Platte, 2-1 on the season, will face Lincoln Pius X on Monday night before matching up with Fillmore Central on Tuesday morning. The Bulldogs have picked up early wins over South Sioux City and Alliance.

Morrill’s boys team enters the tournament still searching for its first win at 0-4. The Lions have opened the season against Leyton, Potter-Dix, Hay Springs and Garden County and will face Fillmore Central on Monday before taking on North Platte on Tuesday.
