Shirley A. Morris, age 92 of Nebraska City passed away on Friday; November 28, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Auburn, NE.

Shirley was born on March 18, 1933 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City; the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Marie (Schneider) Walters.

As the family grew, they moved to the Schnitzer house on what is now known as OPPD Road.  Bob would walk the girls cross country to and from the old District #33 schoolhouse at the end of Seven Sisters Road.   Two years later, the family moved into the little white house at the foot of OPPD Road, where she lived most of her life.

At the age of 17, Shirley married Charles “Charley” Morris on April 18, 1951 in Council Bluffs, IA.  She worked beside him on their share-cropped farms; living in the Minersville area until her father died and her mother moved to town.  The couple then moved into the little white house continuing to share-crop and raise livestock and a huge garden.  After Charley’s death, she continued living in the home and worked at OPPD Power Plant for many years.  Shirley, never having any children of her own, was the beloved aunt and “mom” to all her nieces and nephews and all her great nieces and nephews.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nebraska City and enjoyed helping with Awana and Cubbies at church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Marie Walters, infant brother Robert, sisters and brothers-in-law:  Ruth (Merten) Boyer, Norma (Earl) Chamberlain, Rita (Amos) Foster, Keith Ward, brother Jerry Walters, nephews:  infant Gary Boyer and Patrick “Bunzy” Boyer, Allen Boyer, David Chamberlain and Randy Ward; nieces:  infant Linda Chamberlain, Connie (Ward) Fengel and Shirley Ann (Walters) Bemberger.

Walters as well as many great nieces and nephews who also loved her very much.
