AUBURN – Graham Construction certified substantial completion of the Auburn Westgate housing development in August and the city is taking steps to sell lots for home construction beginning this fall.

Graham Construction is working on the final checklist for the $2.9 million development, which provides the city with 29 single family and seven multi-family lots.

City Councilman Tom Clark said he visited the site and described the work as excellent. Grading and seeding is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

City Administrator Crystal Dunekacke said residents should see for sale signs and advertising boards going up at the site soon.

She said when street lights and signage are in place, the lots will be turned over to buyers for construction.

In other business, the council added $2,796 to the downtown revitalization and CRA grant for building repairs at the 922 Central for Holly Siske.

Exterior brick repairs benefited from $40,000 from downtown revitalization and $13,000 from the CRA.

The Auburn City Council has scheduled a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The agenda includes a budget hearing and the one and six-year road plan.

Auburn budgeted $595,000 in sales tax and has collected $569,000. The collection is $80,000 behind last year.

The city council approved a zoning change from medium density residential to commercial residential for 1319 26th St.
