Man arrested after police stand-off in Tecumseh

TECUMSEH – The Johnson County Attorney’s Office reports an arrest this morning after a five-hour standoff at a Tecumseh residence.
A press release says deputies located a vehicle parked at the residence that was last known to be driven by a person with an active arrest warrant alleging domestic violence.
The deputy made contact with the suspect at the house, but the suspect refused to leave, the release says.
Johnson and Pawnee county sheriff’s deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol were on the scene after the car was located at 2:28 a.m. At 7:34 a.m. the suspect, 31-year-old Justin Frerichs, voluntarily left the house and was arrested on the warrant.
An arrest warrant was filed Monday after a staff at the Johnson County Hospital informed deputies that a woman reported that her boyfriend hit her and drove off with her car.
A Johnson County Sheriff's Office affidavit says the woman told authorities that she tried escaping through an open vehicle door, but was partially caught beneath the vehicle. She called for help and a child sought Frerich's attention. The woman was able to get clear of the vehicle before it left the scene.
A woman at a nearby park heard the yell for help and called the sheriff's office prior to the standoff.
