Severe weather watch Monday night

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of River Country.

The watch covers Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson counties in Nebraska and Fremont, Mills, Montgomery and Page counties in Iowa through 10 p.m.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has the area placed in the slight category for damaging winds and level 3 risk for hail.

The Nebraska City Airport reports a high temperature of 98 degrees on Friday afternoon and 97 degrees on Saturday. The temperature fell 16 degrees to 76 with heavy rain at 4:35 this afternoon.
