Fourth Corso residents seek discussion on solutions to Cargill odor
Fifth Corso and 11th - 13th streets
NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on May 19
The agenda includes use of golf cars on city streets, an ambulance remount, Cargill odor and Fifth Corso improvements.
Proposed changes to the UTV/ATV ordinance identify top speed, requires lights, sets 18 as age minimum and prohibits children as passengers. A change would prohibit use of ATV, UTV or golf car vehicles on 11th Street, Fourth Corso or Central Avenue between Fourth and 11th streets.
Also scheduled is the introduction of new volunteer firefighters Zahir Washington and Terry Kinser.
A revision to the Wildwood Historic House constitution and grading and seeding of the Kreifels Hills Subdivision are also on the agenda.
Ambulance
The city received two bids for the ambulance remount -- $287,076 from Arrow Manufacturing and $306,565 from Demers. The has budgeted a $150,000 down payment and is expected to seek grants for the remaining $137,076. The Arrow remount is expected to arrive in Nebraska City around the time of a new ambulance next March.
Fifth Rue
ME Collins of Wahoo was the low bidder at $543,251, about $5,000 below Constructors Inc. of Lincoln. The bid includes $246,000 for 7” concrete pavement.
Fifth Corso
The city proposes a grant application to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for $450,000 for a $675,000 project that includes curb and storm sewer repairs, as well as asphalt mill and overlay of a Fifth Corso project from 11th to 19th streets.
Duane and Shelli Stuhr of Nebraska City are scheduled to discuss possible solutions to the odor coming from Cargill.
