NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City City Council referred proposed changes to its golf cart ordinance to its attorney following discussion Monday.

A city ordinance already allows golf carts that are traveling between a residence to the Wildwood Municipal Golf Course, but commissioners are considering broadening the use.

City Administrator Perry Mader said commissioners discussed requirements for safety features, such as seat belts and lights.

The primary discussion was about what streets golf carts could use. At a March meeting, Commissioner Ron Osovski said the carts could be limited to roads with a 25 mph speed limit.

Commissioners said no passengers under age 8 would be allowed.
