PAWNEE CITY – A $25,000 bond was set in a Pawnee County court for a transient accused of fleeing a traffic stop on April 5  theft of a pickup truck.

A sheriff’s office affidavit says 38-year-old Colby Eickmeier was pulled over in Pawnee City, but fled in a Dodge Charger with a female passenger. The affidavit says the passenger attempted to get out of the vehicle but was directed to stay inside by the deputy, while a second vehicle pulled up.

The deputy told the court that after Eickmeier accelerated away, the  female passenger opened the door and jumped from the car.  The deputy said he pursued  at 103 mph but Eickmeier continued to pull away on Highway 50 and was last seen on Highway 4.

The affidavit says the woman passenger, Amanda Speth, denied knowing Eickmeier, but said she had been hitchhiking and was picked up that morning.

Investigators say Eickmeier and Speth had been staying in Pawnee City for two to three days and appeared to be in a dating relationship.

The affidavit says there was call for a stolen Ford F250 on April 6 near where the deputy had lost sight of the Dodge Charger.

The pickup was later located in Lincoln.
