Burglary, assault, possession charges in Otoe County

NEBRASKA CITY - Robert Rhoads, 42, of Nebraska City is charged in Otoe County with burglary and possession on April 15.
A Nebraska City police affidavit says a First Corso parent dropped a pre-schooler off at home and watched the child walk toward the house. The resident said he saw Rhoades open the door and let the child in and saw Rhoades leave the residence moments later with a stolen umbrella, pack of bubbles and box of chalk from the inside entry room.
Police say there were markings near the door to indicate forced entry.
A bond of $50,000 was set in county court.
Ali-Thomas Bahjat, 56, of Kansas City, Mo., is charged with felony assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony on April 17.
Otoe County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the OPPD power plant where a man had facial injuries. The man told deputies he had been arguing and Bahjat picked up a pair of channel locks and threw it at him, striking him in the face. He said as he tried to climb out of hole he had been working in, he was struck by a metal air gun.
A witness told investigators the men were exchanging racial slurs and threatening each other.
Bahjat told investigators that the man lunged at him during the argument so he defended himself.
Tyler Ricker, 58, of Talmage is charged with possession on April 20.
A Nebraska City police affidavit says Ricker had been stopped for a defective brake light and later flagged down an officer to tell him about alleged drug use. The officer told the court he saw a pipe on the floorboard when Ricker opened the door to this car.
Ryan Heath, 33, of Clarinda, Iowa, is charged with providing police with false information on April 9.
A sheriff’s deputy told the court that Heath claimed to be a resident of Talmage on his sex offender registry, but says Heath has not had a permanent residence in Talmage for years.
