Kregel Windmill Factory Museum set to unveil National Historic Landmark

Unveiling scheduled prior to Arbor Day parade

 NEBRASKA CITY – The Kregel Windmill Factory Museum has scheduled an official unveiling ceremony for its National Historic Landmark in front the museum at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.

The site along Central Avenue in Nebraska City is one of 23 national landmarks in Nebraska.

The unveiling will be followed by an ice cream social at noon and the Arbor Day parade at 1 p.m.

Speaker T. Lindsay Baker is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, a hot dog and ice cream social is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Kregel Windmill Factory Museum in Nebraska City is excited to announce their designation as a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service. Of the more than 2,600 National Historic Landmarks across the United States, only 23 are in Nebraska.

 

 

The Kregel Windmill Factory Museum serves as a time capsule of factory life at the end of the Industrial Revolution. The Museum houses over one million artifacts and contains all the original equipment used in the production of ELI windmills, operating out of the same building from 1903 until 1991. It truly fits the National Historic Landmark criteria of representing important aspects of American history and culture.

To commemorate this honorable designation, the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum is planning a celebration for the weekend of Arbor Day 2025.

The official unveiling ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, 11 a.m. in front of the museum at 1416 Central Avenue in Nebraska City. The unveiling will be followed by an Ice Cream Social at 12 p.m., the Arbor Day Parade at 1 p.m., and a Speaker Presentation by windmill expert T. Lindsay Baker at the museum at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, April 27, the museum will host a Hot Dog & Ice Cream Social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
