David S. Guess, 77, Nebr. City

David S. Guess, age 77, of Nebr. City, NE passed away on Sunday morning, March 2, 2025 at his home.
David Stanley Guess was born on February 9, 1948 in Atchison, KS; the son of Lawrence William and Doris May (Dame) Guess. He grew up in Atchison and graduated from the Atchison High School with the Class of 1966.
Dave entered the United States Army on May 13, 1968 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1969. When he returned from his military service, he worked as a Police Officer in Atchison, KS and later for the Nebraska City Police Department. He later began his career at the Nebraska City Utilities as a Control Room Operator. He retired after some 23 years of employment there. In his retirement, he owned and operated Mobile Detail and Arbor Limousine where he detailed numerous vehicles and enjoyed chauffeuring for numerous events.
He married Cheryl D. Schwarting on April 19, 1980 in Falls City, NE and they shared almost 45 years together. David was a former member of the River City Classic Car Club and the Nebraska City Jaycees from 1980 to 1988 where he served as a Jaycees State Officer, District Director, Husker Calvary Chairman and served a term as the president of the Nebraska City Chapter. He was a member of the Nebraska City Rescue from 1989 to 1994 and served as a team captain.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Guess of Nebr. City, NE; sons: Brent Guess (Lisa) of Largo, FL and Blain Guess (Cheryl) of Winter Haven, FL; daughter Andrea Creek (Bill Jr.) of Nebr. City, NE; three grandchildren: Victoria “Tori” Guess, Bill Creek III and Miranda Creek; sister: Roxanne Schreiner (Steve) of Rogers, AR; other family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles and "adopted" mother Rachel Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Diabetes Association or the Tunnel2Towers Foundation.
Services are entrusted to the Gude Family at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City.
