FALLS CITY – City Administrator Anthony Nussbaum told the city council Monday that an application for kangaroo within Falls City city limits had been withdrawn.

City officials say the kangaroo has been sold and is moving out of state.

Also at Monday’s meeting, Mayor Harkendorff appointed Danielle Cromer-Bauman, Julie Phroper and Jamie Baker to the animal control review board.

Brian Lemerond had requested a permit to pasture and stable the kangaroo at 2414 Fulton St.

Police Chief Baker said Falls City’s city code does not address exotic animals and suggested Nebraska City’s city code that prohibits the possession or sale of exotic animals. The Nebraska City ordinance bans animals that are not normally subjected to domestication including skunks, lions, bears, kangaroo, eagles and buffalo.

Baker said the characteristics of animals need to be considered because some are not viable pets in the community.
