FALLS CITY –County commissioners approved bylaw changes for the Richardson County Visitors Committee Wednesday.

Committee secretary Pam Scott said the changes will add two members to the committee for a total of seven. Both new members will be representatives of the hotel industry.

Commissioners will consider appointing Brian Poppe, an owner of the Vision Inn Motel on Harlan Street, and Diana Orton of the Grand Weaver Hotel at an upcoming meeting.

They will replace formers owners of the Check-In Motel and Vision Inn on the committee.

The visitors committee is charged with handling the county’s lodging tax.

Scott said the committee has supported the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Memorial Garden in Humboldt and provided promotional funds to chambers in Humboldt and Nebraska City. The committee has also help promote events by the Richardson County Historical Society and Jaycees.

Current members are Sandy Stalder of Humboldt, Bonnie Kanel of Dawson, and Kristy Gerweck, Madaline Wihlhelm and Bill Niedfieldt, all of Falls City.
