Cass County Nebraska EDC presents annual awards

ASHLAND - Cass County Nebraska Economic Development Council presented its annual awards at its Feb. 13 meeting in Saunders County.
Kerns Excavating received the business recognition award for its work in infrastructure development, job creation and community involvement.
The county’s volunteer fire departments received the service of the year award for their dedicated service during a dry and challenging fire season.

Winkler
John Winkler received the friend in economic development award for his role in establishing Plattsmouth’s LB840 program and the Four-Mile Industrial Park.
The EDC also highlighted its key initiatives including a water and wastewater analysis and holding community development workshops. A housing action committee will be convened to implement findings in the first countywide housing study.
The study indicates a need for 615 new housing units and identification of two new development sites.
The Cass County EDC is a nonprofit associated with the Greater Omaha Chamber Economic Development Partnership that covers an eight-county area from two states, including Mills County in Iowa and Otoe County in Nebraska.
