SIDNEY - The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office suspects impaired driving in two separate accidents on Valentine’s Day.

A press release says deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident east of Sidney and located a totaled Chevrolet Colorado. Gary Redinbaugh, 51, of Persia, Iowa, is suspected of driving under the influence.

Deputies were dispatched later Friday evening to a report that a vehicle had hit a parked pickup truck and fled the scene.

The sheriff’s office says deputies located a Ford Escape with front-end damage that had gone into a Highway 275 ditch. Leslie Evans, 45, of Atlantic, Iowa, is suspected of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and driving under the influence.

The press release says the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is making combating impaired driving a mission priority in 2025.

The office has expanded its resources to address impaired driving by adding a drug recognition expert and deputies who are trained in advanced roadside impaired driving enforcement.

The sheriff’s office reports arrests through Feb. 14.
