Syracuse hears proposals for cleaning firefighting gear, parks improvements
Syracuse agenda for Wednesday's meeting

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council’s agenda includes the purchase of a washer-extractor machine for the fire department.
Keith McWilliams said the machine is designed to help your department meet regulatory standards for cleaning bunker gear and provide the required documentation of the actions. The extractor machines are used for enhanced cleaning to reduce firefighter exposure to carcinogens.
Sonnie Graves of the parks department will present for discussion and approval.
A proposal for a 15' x 70' batting cage , cage posts, support cables and netting at a cost of $32,000. Also up for discussion is new field turf installed over existing concrete pad for $8,000.
Graves also put together a proposal for the complex ball fields. Softball field renovations, 20,000 sf, $22,070. removing base anchors, laser grading, apply top dressing, batter's and catcher's cages reinforced,
Baseball infield renovation 11,000 sf --$19,840, removal of base plates, laser grading, reshape mound, apply top dressing. replace bases.
Baseball bullpens at a cost of $12,920, demolition of existing pitching areas, rebuild pitching area, set new rubber, add 80 lbs of mound clay and 6 bags of leveling sand.
Total complex field renovations could be $54,830.
Jeff Vogt, Public Works agenda items are discussion and approval of the Mannschreck masonry estimate for south wall replacement on the shop building , located at 60th and Park St. with new block. Repairing and replacing the south door at the NE side of the fire station. Removal and replacement of the door. The total cost will be $26,463.
CIty office staff sold three permits in the month of January for a total of $141.
