Flood expects Trump to have farmers' back during tariff push

LINCOLN - Nebraska Congressman Rep. Mike Flood reacted to media questions Sunday about the impact of trade tariff’s on Nebraska agriculture.
Flood said it is refreshing to have a President that is paying attention to trade again.
Flood: “I will say that tariffs can be an effective tool for securing economic victories for America.
A reminder that both the US/M.C.A. and the China trade deals were achieved through the strategic use of tariffs and threat of additional ones and I also think – to your point about Nebraska farmers – we can’t forget that the first Trump Administration provided support to our farmers who were most impacted by trade war with China.
I have every reason to believe and I’ve talked to several members of the administration and colleagues in the House of Representatives, if these tariffs begin to affect farmers in our country you will see the Trump Administration respond, understanding how important they are to feeding the world and they are the backbone of America.
I say support our President. See what happens. Shut this fentanyl down that is coming in, it is the leading cause of death among 18 to 45-year-olds (men) in the U.S. I think ultimately President Trump is the one that is going to cut a very good deal here.”
Flood expects Trump’s leadership to secure the U.S. border against criminal cartels.
