Nebraska City arson charge dropped
Short ordered to pay bank nearly $3,000 in restitution

NEBRASKA CITY- Sentencing for 49-year-old Robert Heiman is set for Feb. 24 after the Otoe County Attorney’s Office dropped an arson charge and accepted a plea for felony assault on Oct. 9.
Police say they arrived at a Fourth Avenue residence to find flames crawling an exterior wall. Police turned their attention to evacuating the building’s occupants, which included a man who had an arm injury.
In a separate case, Anthony Short, 33, of Omaha was sentenced to 42 months probation for attempted forgery in January of 2024.
A Nebraska City police affidavit says a check for $2,995 was passed at Arbor Bank. Short was identified in a photo lineup. Restitution is ordered to the bank.
