Elkhorn Valley overcomes cold shooting early, pulls away late
TILDEN - Elkhorn Valley shook off a shaky night shooting and made plays down the stretch, beating Hartington-Newcastle 50-35 on Friday.
The Falcons struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm, allowing the Wildcats to hang around and take the lead in the 2nd quarter.
Hartington-Newcastle hung around, pulling within three early in the fourth quarter. But an 8-0 run by Elkhorn Valley allowed them to get distance on the scoreboard that the Wildcats couldn't overcome.
The win is Elkhorn Valley's third in a row, and their first ever over Hartington-Newcastle.
