NORFOLK, Neb. -- Police in northeast Nebraska said they arrested a Norfolk man following a report of a pickup chasing and shooting at another vehicle.

On Thursday, at 10:27 p.m., the Norfolk Police Division said they responded to Seventh St. and Koenigstein Ave. for a report of a dark pickup truck chasing a sedan, with one of the vehicles shooting at the other.

Officers who responded saw the two vehicles and were able to pull over the sedan.

According to the juveniles in the sedan, the driver of the pickup, 27-year-old Selvin Orellana of Norfolk, had been chasing them through town while shooting at them.

Those in the sedan also told police that Orellana had two children in the pickup with him.

NPD said that officers who canvassed the area, where the shots had allegedly happened, found .22 caliber shell casings.

While speaking with the juveniles, law enforcement said they found about eight ounces of marijuana in several baggies, along with several THC vapes that were still in packaging.

Not too long after, Orellana called NPD to make a report on the sedan.

Orellana reported that he followed the sedan and they had illegal drugs.

NPD said Orellana is the registered owner of a pickup that matched the description of the one involved in the shooting.

Officers said they found and spoke to him.

While searching Orellana's pickup, NPD said they found an open and half empty box of .22 hollow-point ammunition in the center console, along with an envelope that had quite a few small bills inside.

Orellana also gave officers a .22 caliber Sig Sauer P322 pistol.

Police said they looked at the 20-round magazine which was about half empty, and the chamber had debris from recently being fired.

The ammunition inside the gun was the same brand and caliber as the empty casings police said they found at the scene of the shooting.

NPD said they also found the open box of .22 ammunition in Orellana's pickup.

Orellana was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance - marijuana, first-degree assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony, unlawful discharge a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle, and child abuse.

He was held in Norfolk City Jail and then transferred to Madison County Jail.
