NWS warns of extreme driving hazards
RIVER COUNTRY - The latest winter storm watch from the National Weather Service indicates five to 12 inches of snow with ice accumulations and an icy glaze possible Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.
Hazards include whiteout conditions. The NWS service says travel should be delayed and motorists should use extreme caution.
On Friday, forecasters had the deepest snow accumulations in northwest Missouri, Kansas and River Country south of Highway 2.
A potential of eight to 12 inches is forecast for most of River Country.
The high temperature Saturday is forecast at 21 degrees and the high Sunday is 15. It is expected to the start of a frigid period with no temperature above 20 through the next seven days.
