Loren Ralph Haveman
Loren Ralph Haveman was born September 9, 1940, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Ernest and Meta (Hillman) Haveman. He passed away at Banner South in Tucson Az on December 18, 2024, reaching the age of 84 years, 3 months, 9 days. He graduated from Avoca High School in 1958. He had various jobs during high school and helped his brothers farm and started farming after high school. He married the love of his life, Gwen Haveman, on his 20th birthday, September 9, 1960. They farmed SE of Avoca and raised cattle and hogs and had milk cows and chickens. They were blessed with a son Daniel, October of 1966. In February of 1968 they moved to the Lake Waconda Farm, Union NE. In April of 1968 they were blessed a second time with daughter Peggy.
In 1975 they purchased the Grain Elevator in Union for storage for the farming operation. Area farmers encouraged him to open it for business as well as helped get it ready to open for handling grain, feed, seed, chemicals, fertilizer and custom application. Added the Murray facility and were in business 31 years retiring in 2006.
Loren always had to have something to do and started clearing some land he had on the Missouri River for a campground and started Rock Bluff RV Park in 2010. Loren loved to golf and enjoyed golfing on league at Lake Ridge in the summer and golfing with family. He also loved spending winters in Green Valley AZ and doing a lot of golfing, exploring and karaoke.
Ranching was always one of Loren’s dreams and in 2022 selling property in Iowa purchased a ranch near Nogales AZ where son Dan and grandson Hunter live and run the operation.
Loren never met a stranger and was always happy and enjoyed life. He so loved his children, grands and great grands and was so proud of them all.
He is survived by his wife Gwen, son Dan (Sandy) and daughter Peggy, Grands-Lauran(Kent) Nutzman, Logan(Mallory) Wilsey, Melissa(Eli) Bundy, Cheyenne Haveman, Hunter(Jayden) Haveman, Ryleigh(Cade) Clymer, and one on the way. Great Grands-Clara and Wesley Nutzman, Eleanor and Lennon Bundy, Dominic and Malik Haveman, and Rayne Clymer. Also numerous Relatives and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers LeRoy and Leonard, sister-in-law Joan, brother-in-law Phil Boehm, nephew Randy Haveman, niece Abbey Schnell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cass County Fair Grounds Expo Building in Weeping Water, Nebraska with Rev. Adam Klinker officiating.
