Robert Michael "Mike" Tams age 61 of Cook, Nebraska, passed away on December 25, 2024, at Avera McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He was born on June 14, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert D. and Brenda K. (Morisse) Tams.


His educational journey took him through Nemaha Valley Schools, and he was a proud graduate of St. John's Military Academy in Manhattan, Kansas. Mike was a Master Angler who cherished every chance to fish and he would take anyone who was willing to tag along. As a skilled carpenter, Mike spent his life building more than structures—he built friendships and memories that would last a lifetime. Mike was the embodiment of kindness, patience, and understanding. He had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, no matter the situation. His gentle spirit and open heart were a source of comfort and strength to all who knew him. He was united in marriage to Amy M. Sand on February 15, 2018 in Cook, Nebraska.


Mike is survived by his wife, Amy Tams of Cook, NE. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Whitney (Tyler Murphy) Boyda and Rachael (Brett Funke) Tams of Sioux Falls, SD, as well as his stepdaughter, Sara (Mike Meyer) Vermeer of Lincoln, NE. He was a loving grandfather to 17 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Kat) Murphy, Ciena Murphy, Serenity Boyda, Zoey Boyda, Raylee Tams, Rhianna Tams, Riley Murray, Piper Murray, Sawyer Murray, Zayden Funke, Gavin Funke, Renee Perry, Christina Perry, Alexander Perry, Emmy Anderson,  Grayson Meyer and Nolan Meyer.  Mike was a cherished brother to Peggy (Roger) Williams of Cook, NE, Dave (Deb) Tams of Cook, NE, Cathy (Bob) Harris of Grand Island, Tracy Brinkman of Lake Elsinore, CA and Ted (Angie) Tams of Cook, NE. He is also survived by three half-siblings, Wade (Kim) Bender, Jay (Lynn) Bender, and Sara Bender, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.


Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents and his loving parents, Robert and Barbara Tams.


A visitation will be held at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse, NE, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends.  A funeral service will be held at Syracuse Bible Church in Syracuse, NE, on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
